ELCO Lighting Capacitors - 825 Series
Lighting Capacitor is used in Fluorescent Fittings, Street Lanterns and with other High Intensity Discharge Lamps in parallel connection.
Why You Need Capacitor?
Most of the power distribution authorities have a requirement of high power factor for lighting fittings of generally 0.85 to 0.90 minimum.
A typical Fluorescent circuit without power factor correction has an inherent low power factor, due to control gear inductance. This inductance is in the circuit to stabilize the pulsation of the current passing through the lamp.
Cost Saving
As in the case of lighting fittings where many lamps are used high input current is recorded thus high cost of electricity.
The inclusion of a Capacitor which has an opposite effect of an inductor can raise the power factor and reduce the current drawn from the mains. This will result in savings in electricity cost and equipment cost in terms of reduction in copper and transformer size.

Lighting Capacitor - Parallel Connection
Each separate lamp (single connection) or a group of lamps controlled by a common switch (group connection) can be power factor corrected by shunt capacitor across the line as shown in Figure 1 and Figure 2.
The capacitance value of capacitor required for the correction of individual lamps can be found from data sheet provided by chokes manufacturer.
ELCO Motor Running Capacitor-330 Series
Motor Running Capacitor is used in water pump, auto-gate motor, air compressor and other single phase motor running applications in continuous or intermittent modes.
Why You Need Motor Running Capacitor?
The main purpose is to used in single phase motor applications, is to generate a rotary field that is out of phase with the supply field so that emf can be produced to start the motor. Leaving the capacitor in circuit after the motor has run up to speed rather then disconnecting it, will not only increase the power output and stalling torque but also improve the efficiency & power factor of motor.
